Hurricane Katrina is no laughing matter, but the members of the Theater Department entertained and encouraged an audience to donate for a worthy cause in the Tingle Student Center on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
The Seuss-Sayers performed a handful of Dr. Seuss classics, such as The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, I Am Not Going to Get Up Today and There's a Wocket in My Pocket. Rebecca Phillips, a new instructor in the Theater Department, inspired the students to recite the classics.
"She has taught us that, by pursuing elementary ideas, we as actors are able to understand and grasp more challenging ones. Dr. Seuss builds a foundation for more difficult roles," said Andrew Hansen, sophomore theater. "I only got to see the whole performance of The Cat in the Hat, but everything was great," said Brandon Nelson, junior youth ministry.
Despite a low intake of funds for hurricane relief, the Department is still accepting donations.
