The Student Government Association (SGA) is doing things a little differently this year. Not only are there committees for certain things around campus, but they have also implemented dorm senators.
Each dorm should have a senator or representative. With the help of these representatives, it will be easier for each student to voice an opinion to the SGA. Dorm senator meetings will be held every Tuesday in the Science Building Auditorium at 9:30 p.m.
Also different this year are the committees for different groups around the campus. Each committee will have a specific area to concentrate on. These committees include a public safety committee, a technology committee, an environmental committee, an appreciation committee, an advertising committee, a homecoming committee, a Miss NGU committee and an appliance committee that deals with items such as washers, dryers and vacuum cleaners.
"We have mainly been focused on homecoming, which is in 2 weeks," said Branddon Benson, senior elementary education, SGA President.
SGA is a sponsor of this year's homecoming events. The organization also sponsors movies each weekend on campus.
"We would also like to have more activities on the weekends for the students that want to stay," said Benson. "Our main focus is to be a voice for the students and to help students."
The officers for this year are SGA President Branddon Benson, senior elementary education; Senior President Jason Vaughn, intercultural studies; Junior President Enrique Pizzati, intercultural studies; Junior Vice President Megan Bradberry, early childhood education; Sophomore President Kimberly Upchurch, sport management; Sophomore Vice President Sacorra Bilbrew, elementary education and Freshman President Erica Pittman, business administration.
