Female students were encouraged to "be satisfied" at the second annual women's conference held Oct. 18-19 in the Hayes Ministry Center.

Ruth McWhite, event speaker, said that to be satisfied with Christ, women need to see everything in His likeness, and not the likeness of the world.

"Your contentment is not found in [the things of the world]," said McWhite. "Instead, we should look for Christ is all that we do."

The women's conference was started because a female chaplain intern last year felt a need for a women's ministry on campus. Even now, there is still a need on campus because so many girls remain unreached.

"[The conference] is an opportunity for girls to come together and learn what it is to have their identity in Christ," said Kristen Newman, senior sport management. "There are a lot of girls on this campus that are hurting and that's why this ministry was started."

Because students have to deal with so much each semester, this conference can be used as a time for them to crawl back into His arms and allow Him to embrace them and carry them through these troubled times.

"I think this conference will give the girls on campus a greater understanding of who Christ is to us," said Newman. "[It] focuses on the needs that the girls have. At one point or another, we all deal with the same thing."

"Be Satisfied" was the theme for this year's conference.

"We wanted to try to focus more on the positive aspects instead of the 'guys are stupid' aspect," said Newman. The positive thing allowed the women on campus to learn a little about being satisfied with themselves and in Him, our Creator.
