The North Greenville University men's soccer team faced steep competition on Saturday, Oct. 22, against the Knights of St. Andrews Presbyterian College, losing the game 2 to 0.

The Crusaders had a very strong first half, with much cohesion among the players. They were full of energy and pride as they were called onto the field.

"We had a great first half and I thought we controlled the ball very well," said Chad Gfellar, NGU head coach.

After the first half, the morale of the players seemed to dim, possibly due to numerous discrepancies over several "off-side" calls against NGU. One particular call was made directly following the only would-be NGU goal in the beginning of the second half.

"The hustle and the work rate out there just kind of dropped off and the other team stayed pretty pumped up," said Brandon McPherson, freshman business administration.

NGU players may take some comfort in the fact that St. Andrews was expected to be a difficult competitor and played consistently at the top of their game.
