Friends, donors and NGU alumni competed in the 3rd annual Crusader Classic Monday, Oct. 10 at the Links O' Tryon in Campobello, SC. The golf tournament was held in order to raise money for North Greenville's basketball program.
The participants played a round of golf. Drinks were provided by Pepsi and Mutts BBQ provided lunch. A team or NGU staff participated in the tournament, and around 100 players were present which is close to the average of the participation of the past two years.
A total of 4,000 dollars was raised from the tournament.
"The proceeds from the tournament will be used for supplementing our current budget and will be used to help us with recruiting expenses, gear for our players, and offsetting the cost of a new scorer's table and chairs for Hayes Gymnasium," said Chad Lister, men's basketball head coach.
The Crusader Classic was a success and has been a tremendous help to the North Greenville basketball program. The Crusaders's first game is an exhibition game at Charleston Southern on Nov. 10.
