Crusaders finish season with victory

Saturday's 64-27 win over Allen University set a new bar for touchdowns scored in the Crusader record books, finishing the team's first season at Younts Stadium with a win.

The Crusader victory was lead by running back Travis Mosley, junior sport management, who carried the ball 35 times for over 250 yards and four touchdowns. Mosley led the offense to pass the previous record of 59 points scored in a game. His senior day performance boosted his season totals to over 1,100 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.

Mosley was not the only player to finish the day with big numbers. Senior linebacker Isaac Tate, business administration, currently ranked number one for solo tackles in NCAA Division II, finished the day with seven solo tackles and five assists, putting him at 127 total tackles for the season. In addition to the number one ranking in solo tackles, Tate is ranked six for total tackles in NCAA Division II.

Quarterback Eric Moeller, senior mathematics, was not to be outdone by teammates. The win put him past the 2,000-yard mark in passing yards. He finished the day 14-21 with 216 passing yards and three touchdowns.

The game stayed close through the first half, with the Crusaders up 22-20 as the teams headed to the locker rooms for the break. The second half of play found the Crusaders putting the ball in the end zone continuously, scoring on the ground, in the air and on defense.

Mosley reached the end zone three of the four times during the second half, one of Moeller's three touchdowns came during the second half, and the defense got in on the scoring action to seal the game up for the Crusaders after Ronrico Jones, freshman undecided, intercepted Allen's quarterback and ran for a 71-yard touchdown.

The Crusaders finish their season at 3-8, winning two games at Younts Stadium and one on the road. In all three of their wins, the Crusaders put more than 50 points on the board, and six of their eight losses were decided by 10 points or less.
