Golf team finishes in Top 3 in BMW Tourney

The North Greenville University golf team finished third and 18th in the 11th annual BMW Collegiate Tournament held at Verdae Greens Golf Club in Greenville, April 3-4.
The A team finished with a team score of 623, only 18 strokes behind the tournament's winner the University of Mobile. USC Upstate finished second with 619. The B team finished with a team score of 668, only two strokes behind Southern Wesleyan University, and well in front of Benedict College, who finished last with a score of 698.
North Greenville's Matthew Bayliff, senior sport management, ended the first day in a three-way tie for second place after shooting 74 in the first-round. NGU A finished the first day in a four-way tie for fifth place with a team score of 317.
Tournament winner Mobile finished the first round leading at 302, 11 points ahead of Berry College, whose Jarod Trammell led the first-round with a score 68, four below Verdae Greens' 72 pro par. Berry finished the tournament tied for 8th place.
The second round ended with a playoff between Anderson University's Adam Sheriff and Scotty Jones of Malone College, who were both tied at a two round score of 149. Sheriff birdied the first hole to win the tournament.
Lander University and Malone College rounded out the top five with team scores of 627 and 628 respectively.
The NGU golf team, lead by coach Jeff Pittillo, ended their season yesterday at the 2nd Annual Brevard College Spring Invitational in Brevard, N.C.
