Volunteering is a great way to show kindness to others and costs nothing but time. Volunteering is something that can be very rewarding in the end. Everyone gets a chance to meet and fellowship with people, and give back something in return.

There are many places around North Greenville to go and volunteer. Taylors Free Medical Clinic is just a few minutes away from campus and is a great place to volunteer. The Taylors Free Medical Clinic is a clinic where people can go and receive free medical treatment if they qualify for it. The establishment was set up and is run by volunteers. By volunteering at the clinic, tasks may vary from checking patients in, answering phones or translating. By volunteering at the clinic people can help those in need to get the care and medicine they need. The clinic is founded on Christian values and, "we try to show God's love to everyone who walks in the door," said Karen Salerno, executive director of the clinic.

Another great place to volunteer is Greer Community Ministries. This is a ministry that is focused on helping people who need food and clothing. They also provide hot meals to homebound families. This non-profit organization uses donations from the community to keep the organization going. As a volunteer there are many jobs you can do such as deliver meals to home-bounds, work in the clothing closet by sorting and organizing clothes or you can help stock and organize the food pantry.

Hannah Rainwater, junior business administration, volunteers at the clinic once a week. "Volunteering are the ministry is a good way to help those in need in the community, and it gives me a chance to put the gifts God has given me into action," said Rainwater.

Volunteering only takes a few hours out of the day, but it can change the life of someone being helped.

More places to volunteer are local churches, United Ministries, Total Ministries and Daily Bread Soup Kitchen.
