The Crusaders played host to the Anderson University Trojans on Saturday, Feb. 3. The Crusaders started off slow but quickly began to pick up the pace after being down early 15-3. Amonzo Gantt, senior business administration, helped spark a 15-3 run when he fell and stole the ball and leaned back hitting his second shot of the game on his knees.

P.J. Schumacher, senior sport management, hit the game tying three-pointer to tie the game at 18. With just under 30 seconds left in the first half on Schumacher's hit his second three of the game and NGU took a one point lead in to half time 29-28.

Gantt led all Crusader scorers with 11 points in the first half. There were four lead changes in the first half, but there were 11 lead changes in the second half. Anderson got the ball to start the half but just after the throw, Gantt stole it, but he was unable to convert on either of his free throw attempts.

J.R. Howell and Nathan Russell gave the Crusaders trouble for most of the game they finished with a combining for 36 of the Trojans 54 points for the day. The Crusaders lead by a four point lead was cut to two with 2:37 remaining 54-52 but again Schumacher came through with another big three-pointer to give the Crusaders their largest lead of the game at 57-52 and at that point the Crusaders took the lead for good.

As time wound down with in a minute the Crusaders defense really put the clamps down, forced allot bad shots that kept the Trojans from scoring. The Crusaders won 62-54 bringing their record back to .500 at 10-10. Three Crusaders scored in double digits: Shumacher (14), Richmond (10), Gantt (16). As a whole the Crusaders shot 47 percent from the floor and 67 percent from the free throw line.
