From skateboard paintings to Irish step dancing, artists of all types showed up Thursday, Feb. 22 for Poetry Night.
Everyone in the audience was sitting on blankets on the floor, drinking coffee and eating snacks provided by the new Starbucks near Cherrydale Point.
Dr. Greg Bruce's World Literature class put on Poetry Night as part of the course requirement. All media types of expression from singing to improvisation were featured.
In the past, there has only been one Poetry Night a year, but this is the second of this year. Also this year, many people signed up that not everyone was able to perform before curfew.
There were all kinds of entertainment. Several people read poetry they had written. These people include Brandon Nelson, senior art; Betsy Forsyth, junior intercultural studies; and Crystal Bulman, senior Christian studies, all participated by reading their pieces aloud.
Other students put on musical performances by playing instruments. Some of the students also sang.
Jacob Johnson, junior undecided, sang and played his guitar, Stephen Palachino, sophomore interdisciplinary studies, played the saxophone and Christian Sarazen, senior music education, played a trombone solo.
There was even a bit of drama thrown into the mix. The improvisation team "Work in Progress" performed.
Everyone seemed to have a favorite part, although some people couldn't decide what they liked best.
"I enjoyed the entire show. I can't decide what I liked best. This show should hit Broadway," said Meghan McLean, freshman psychology.
A lot of people liked the Irish step dancing by Daniel Cannone, senior biology.
"My favorite parts were the improv team and Christians trombone solo," said Jamie Minor, sophomore youth ministry.
