Joel C. Rosenberg has written many intriguing books. One unique aspect of his works is their surprising similarity to events that occur right after the books are finished. Rosenberg began his first such novel titled The Last Jihad in January 2001 about terrorists attacking the United States in suicidal plane missions. While the setting and events are different from what actually took place on Sept. 11, 2001, the story remarkably resembled what took place that day and what followed afterwards.
The Last Jihad relates the story of some close friends of the president that find oil in the Middle East. The men end up fighting in the Middle East over terrorism and weapons of mass destruction just as the U.S. did after the attack on Sept. 11. However, there are variations in the story that are different from what actually happened. The terrorists fly the planes into the president's limousine and injure him rather than into the Trade Centers.
Rosenberg continues to write novels that strikingly resemble future happenings. He wrote The Last Days, The Copper Scroll, and The Ezekiel Option. While he writes fiction novels, he gains his information from reliable sources such as the Bible and inside contacts.
The Last Days tells about an ambush in Gaza that kills Yasser Arafat. Just two weeks before the novel was published there was an ambush in Gaza that led to Arafat's death 13 months later. A similar occurrence happens with his novel The Ezekiel Option which relates a Russian dictator who joins with Iran to knock Israel off the map. The day that the book was published, a new leader was elected in Iran and signed an arms deal in Moscow just a short time later.
As I heard my family talking about Rosenberg, who basically predicted 9/11, I grew interested. Therefore, I began to read his book The Last Jihad The book contains fictional qualities yet rings with truth as well. The fictional aspect allows for emotions and depth that create an enticing thriller. However, a better understanding of present circumstances can also be gained from reading Rosenberg's novels. The combination provides an intriguing novel to delve into over a relaxing summer vacation or to escape piles of homework for a little while. The Last Jihad and most of the other novels written by Rosenberg can be found at Crossway Bookstores.
