Like all college students, sleep can sometimes be the last thing on a list of importance. While peaceful slumber may be limited and on test days can seem non-existent, there is beautiful thing called caffeine that is in no way limited. This wonderful creation is found in a very convenient form called, coffee and sometimes coffee is the juice that helps students function properly. These days coffee shops are open everywhere and often sell more than just your average cup of Joe. Looking for a caffeine fix? Try some of these local coffee shops.
Starbucks, a chain that is found across the nation, has become the staple for coffee shops. It provides not only a great environment but also offers over 50 different types of caffeinated beverages. While a person can get artificial energy from a Starbucks coffee, the atmosphere of the shop is a great place to study although wireless Internet is not available at all locations. At the place that do offer a wireless connection it is not free. There are plenty of tables, chairs, and light background music that is perfect for one who dislikes the quiet of the library or the noise in a dorm. Starbucks just opened a new location in Cherrydale, and others can be found in Greer, and across the Falls Park in downtown Greenville. Currently one of the new drinks is the Cinnamon Dolce Latte, and for those who prefer cold drinks try the Strawberries and Cream Frap.
Competing with Starbucks in the heart of downtown is Coffee Underground. This is a wonderful place to bring a larger group of people and hang out with friends. It is not the traditional table and chairs establishment and has a variety of chairs, side tables, couches and love seats. Coffee Underground has become quite the popular hang out so be prepared for a small wait before being seated. Keep in mind that although the name implies just the sale of coffees, Coffee Underground sells a variety of teas, muffins, pastries, salads and sandwiches for lunch or dinner along with homemade desserts. Try not to forget that though there may be a big party of people, Coffee Underground enforces the rule that everyone in the group must buy something. A popular choice of Coffee Underground is the Turtle Latte. If coffee is not a desire of the evening, try a plate of Nacho.
A closer-to-home coffee shop is Leopard Forest Coffee Company in Travelers Rest. One of the appeals of this unique place is the amazing scent because Leopard Forest roasts all of their own coffee in-house. Leopard Forest serves deli style food all day long offering a variety of soup, sandwiches and bagels. The menu is currently under construction by the owners and will be offering new items soon. The shop receives homemade cakes from Kathy Norris of Easley, S.C. on a weekly basis that include Carrot and Chocolate Fudge just to name a couple. Leopard forest is a great place to hang out with friends as well as study because they offer free wireless Internet for all customers. A great drink from Leopard Forest in the Snow Leopard; this drink includes white chocolate, caramel and macadamia nut flavorings.
These are great places to fill the need when a sleep- deprived student is looking for that extra boost to get through the day. All three of these establishments cater to not only coffee lovers but to the average Joe as well.
