At times, shopping for a gamer or as a gamer can be tough. Consoles are expensive and sometimes games are equally so. To help in the quest, there are a few places in the Greenville area that carry a variety of games and consoles for pretty low prices.

One of these places is Gamestop. There are a few locations in the Greenville area, such as at the Haywood Mall and the Wal-mart shopping centers in Berea and Greer. They have a variety of games for almost every console, as well as a selection of games for the PC. For gamers who don't have enough money for a game, they can trade in games for cash or store credit. They also sell and trade movies, but the selection is limited to whatever other people have traded in to the store. Most Gamestop locations have a $10 and under basket with games and movies. Customers can pre-order games from any Gamestop location, and a store associate will call to alert the customer that the reserved copy of the game has arrived.

Perhaps video games aren't the only interest of a gamer. Maybe instead of a controller, one uses cardboard to defeat opponents. Well, there are a few stores for the specialty trading card nerd. One of them is Reality Check Games in the Cherrydale area. They sell anything from Magic: The Gathering to The Spoils to Dungeons and Dragons(D&D). Reality Check also holds game nights and tournaments for most of the games that they sell there, on location. The store also holds regular tournaments for Magic: The Gathering almost every Friday night.

Another store to check out is Boardwalk and Parkplace in the Haywood Mall. They have a large selection of miniatures for Warhammer, Star Wars, D&D, and plenty of other games. The store also sells rulebooks for beginning gamers. For a different game set, more traditional games such as chess and checkers, with a fantasy twist to them. For a new game, this is the right place.

But the biggest part of any business is, knowing the product, and these guys actually play the games so they know what they're talking about.
