The baseball team had an overall successful week racking up four wins out of six games, giving them a record of 13-21 for the season.

Head coach Tim Nihart was excited about how the team played throughout the week.

"We did a great job of taking care of the baseball, which has been something we have had trouble with. Our pitchers did well and our hitters performed well also," said Nihart.

Last Wednesday, the team traveled to Carson-Newman where they split a doubleheader, losing the first by five runs, but then coming back to win the second game 4-2. Dylan Davidson, senior sport management, pitched the first game, while Brett Hamilton, senior mathematics, picked up the win later that day.

"We had a huge win against Carson-Newman at their place, which is always a difficult place to go play at," said Nihart.

North Greenville then hosted Brevard for a three-game series. On Friday, the Crusaders pulled ahead and came out with a 4-3 win against the Tornadoes. Devin Vance, junior business administration, pitched a terrific game striking out a total of 14 batters. Chris Tate, senior mathematics, and Curt Marshall, junior elementary education, both lead the team in batting and both brought in an RBI.

The teams were back at it again on Saturday at Ashmore Field. The Crusaders defeated Brevard in the first game, only giving up one run to their five. In the following game, Brevard pulled ahead to a 9-5 victory.

"We have a few injuries on our pitching roster which is going to hurt us, but as long as we stay healthy we should do very well against the teams," Nihart added for the Crusaders' following games.

The team goes on to play Wednesday, March 28, at USC-Aiken at 6 p.m., and then plays at home against Chowan College on Friday at 2 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
