Spring is in the air and along with it, comes flowers, showers and spring flings. North Greenville University is holding the 2007 Spring Fling from March 23- 30.
"It will be a fun-filled time to take you back down memory lane," said Elizabeth Buck, student activities coordinator.
This year's Spring Fling theme is "Springin' it Back" and will include many popular old school features such as old school games, old school movies, Super Nintendo and much more. These old school activities will come from those that are 80s and early 90s classics.
The spring fling schedule kicks off with an NGU Day, followed throughout the wee by Cowboy and Indian Day, Wild, Wacky Tacky Tuesday, Flashback Day, a Super Hero Day, and finally ending with Field Day. Students can find out the specific times of the activities during these days at the Old School Central, which will be located in the Tingle Student Center. One of the many events that will be going on at this year's Spring Fling is a faculty and staff talent show, which will be held on March 26 at 6 p.m. The cost of admission will be $1 for students. Other activities consist of things like a Field Day, where students will play old school games such as Tug-A-War, Sack Races, Egg on a Spoon and Red Rover.
"The field day activities will be like those that you did in elementary," said Buck.
Many are hoping to see a better student involvement for this year's event. "I just want students to have something fun they can get involved in before their exams in the spring," said Buck.
The Spring Fling activities can be compared to those of Homecoming in the fall, with the exception of the football games and Homecoming Queen. The "Springin' it Back" Spring Fling is an event that is trying to create different and fun activities that students can come out and be a part of during the spring.
"Come out and see what's going on," said Buck.
