Students still have opportunity to receive cultural event credit for semester

Although the semester is coming to an end, there is still time for students to receive cultural event credit.

The Senior Art Exhibition will begin displaying on Monday, March 26 at 7 p.m. in the Hester Memorial Library. Graduating seniors from the North Greenville University art program will be displaying work produced in order to fulfill their graduation requirements. The exhibiting artists will be present during the opening to talk about their work. The show will run through Tuesday, April 3.

"Percussion in the Air" will be featured on Monday, April 2 at 7 p.m. in Hamlin. This event will feature a night of traditional and contemporary percussion ensemble works performed by the NGU Percussion Ensemble. This is the culminating concert after the ensemble's annual tour of area high schools.

The Spring Choir will have a concert on Tuesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. in Turner Chapel. From the stirring sounds of the classical repertoire to the contemporary works of music hot off the press, this is an evening sure to delight audiences of any age.

On Monday, April 9 at 7 p.m. the Juried Art Exhibition will begin in the Hester Memorial Library. This annual exhibition features artwork produced by NGU students. Students are invited to enter their artwork in this juried event. Prizes for first, second and third will be awarded. This year's juror is Matt Baumgardner. All submissions must be entered by Thursday, April 5 to the Art Department. The show will run through May 4, but cultural event credit will only be given on opening night. The public is invited to attend.

For an off-campus event, "Rutter and More," a gala fund raising evening of music presented by the NGU Music department on Tuesday, April 10 at 8 p.m. at the Gunter Theatre at the Peace Center in downtown Greenville. Tickets are $10 and available through the Peace Center Box Office.

The Chamber music concert will take place on Monday, April 16 at 7 p.m. in Hamlin Recital Hall. The concert will feature the music of Handbells, NGU String Ensemble, Brass Quintet, Percussion Ensemble, North Greenville Singers and Flute Ensemble.
On Tuesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in Hamlin Recital Hall, the NGU Concert Band will perform a variety of musical styles with something for everyone.

The theater production, The Taming of the Shrew, will begin on Wednesday, April 18 at 5 p.m. in Hamlin Recital Hall and run through Friday, April 20. An introductory lecture on the art of Shakespeare and The Taming of the Shrew by members of the NGU English faculty will take place on April 18.

The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare, will be directed by Dale Savidge. This play is one of Shakespeare's most enjoyable and fast-paced plays: the battle of the sexes takes center stage in this hilarious production. Mistaken identities and romantic scheming make for an unforgettable evening of theatre.
