Men's basketball finishes with winning record for first time in 16 years

The North Greenville men's basketball team has finished the season with its first winning record (16-13) since 1991. NGU won the first round of the NCCAA South Regional Tournament against Pensacola Christian College with a score of 75-71.

Amonzo Gantt, senior business administration, led the Crusaders with a double-double in points and rebounds. Gantt scored 15 points and grabbed 14 rebounds. Austin Randel, freshman undecided, also scored 15 points into the win. Jordan Richmond senior business administration, scored 13 points, while Kyler Vitko, freshman undecided, and P.J. Schumacher, senior sports management, added 12 and 10 points respectively. Marques Goetsch led all scorers with 26 points for PCC. Micah Bowman added 14 points.

The Crusaders ended their season with a loss against Emmanuel College during the second round of the NCCAA South Regional tournament. The final score was 71-62.

Schumacher, who scored a game-high 19 points and pulled in five rebounds, led North Greenville. Gantt added 12 points and nine rebounds. Jaevas McClendon led Emmanuel with 13 points, while Jonathan Womack and Shavoyae Brown chipped in 12 and 11 points respectively.

In 110 games as a Crusader, Schumacher has amassed over 1,264 points, ranking him second on the school's all-time scoring list.

Gantt finishes his two-year career with 849 points in a North Greenville jersey along with 554 rebounds, good for second on the all-time rebounding list.

In 97 career games, Richmond has scored 1,027 career points, giving him the number four spot on the high scoring list.

NGU now looks forward to an even more successful season next year.
