Softball plays hardball; sweeps Piedmont

On Tuesday, March 20, Mars Hill took two victories from the Lady Crusaders. In the first game the Lions had 14 hits and won 9-1.
The Crusaders held them a little closer in the second game losing 4-1. The Crusaders gained their only run in the seventh. Christina Shin, freshman business administration, singled to bring in the run.
On Thursday, the Crusaders were back home facing Pfeiffer. Unfortunately, Pfeiffer took both games that day as well. In game one Amanda McElveen, sophomore elementary education, went 3-3 for the Crusaders with two RBI's. The Falcons won 6-4.
In the second game Lindsey Eargle, sophomore sport management, went 1-3 with two RBI's. However, the Falcons still won with a score of 6-3.
On Saturday, the Crusaders swept Piedmont in a doubleheader. In game one Katie Eargle only had to pitch five innings. NGU had 13 hits, as Krista Yeoman, junior marketing, hit a single, double and triple. Shannon Rainey, junior intercultural studies, went 2-2, Allison Bailey went 2-3 as well as scoring a run.
Game two was a closer game with a score of 6-5. Ashley Warlick started on the mound for NGU, had five strikeouts and gave up seven hits.
Going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Crusaders were down 5-2, but quickly made a comeback to win the game 6-5.
NGU's record is now 7-23. The Lady Crusaders will head to Pfeiffer University today at 2:00 for a doubleheader.
