A day in the life of a housing coordinator isn't just a walk in the park. For Reverend CJ Cauble, coordinator of men's housing at North Greenville, it means being on-call 24 hours a day to deal the men's resident hall problems and working all week in Student Services.
Cauble lives on campus with his wife and 2-year-old son, Noah. Both Rev. Cauble and his wife, Shaneki, are 2002 graduates of North Greenville and have been married for five years. During a chapel service his freshman year, Cauble accepted Christ into his life. Cauble obtained his Master of Divinity from Southeastern Seminary this past December.
Cauble has been working at North Greenville University as the coordinator for men's housing for almost two years. Cauble said he likes his job for the opportunity to have "interaction with students, being able to provide what students need, that's the side of my job I enjoy."
Being a coordinator of housing can also prove to be a difficult job, especially when it comes to the policy and rules enforcement side of the position that students tend to despise. Even during the summer when most North Greenville students are out of school, Cauble still works to provide for the residents. However, most of these summer residents are Centrifuge campers.
Cauble describes living on-campus with his family as "interesting." One part of living on campus means giving up the privacy his family would normally have if they lived in an off-campus house. At the same time, the Caubles enjoy "being able to open the door and sit outside while Noah plays, and have students come up and talk."
Cauble has normal hours in his Student Services office from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. He is on-call 24 hours a day and also works every fourth weekend. A normal day for Cauble begins at 10 a.m. with either Chapel or a staff meeting. Starting at 11 in the morning, students drop in to talk and bring in their maintenance reports. Even while taking a short break for lunch around noon, students stop by his table in the Todd Dining Hall to discuss different needs. In the afternoon office hours, Cauble checks up on students during appointments, walks through the resident halls to make sure the buildings are in good order and works on plans for the next school year.
The one thing that Cauble wants the students of North Greenville to do is to live their lives for Christ. After accepting Christ as his savior, Cauble has worked to love and live for the Lord. One reason Cauble enjoys being coordinator for men's housing is the opportunity to minister to students in a unique way. Cauble's dream for North Greenville University is to see the students come together in living for Christ and change this campus in an amazing way.
