Letter to the Editor
A need to act like adults
Issue date: 4/4/07 Section: Opinion
Dear Editor,
Last week, Lauren Powers wrote to you regarding the appalling behavior at the Fabio Parrini concert. Thankfully, I wasn't there to witness the insolence from some or our North Greenville students behaving at their "best." However, I have been to cultural event concerts before and seen similar disrespect including endless talking, cell phone interruptions, and laughter. I fail to see the humor behind a pianist's eloquently played measures. Perhaps these hecklers would like to demonstrate for the audience their areas of expertise.
After all, I'm sure they could do it better. Unfortunately, this past chapel only offered more of the same. Once again a few unregenerate students decided to use their minuscule brain power to drum up some "fun." What was their grand plan? They defaulted to childish vandalism that not irritated the student body, but also forced cleaning crews to work overtime. This needs to stop. We left kindergarten a long time ago.
I recently saw an advertisement for Parrini. He's going to be playing at the Peace Center downtown. I'm sure there will be no hecklers in attendance. Let's raise the standards at NGU.
