Act II is more than just a ministry team. They are family.

Act II, a Baptist Student Union sponsored theater group, shares the gospel through the medium of theatre. They take their show on the road most weekends during the semester, spreading truth with various churches and youth groups.

"Weekends with Act II are incredible experiences," said Daniel Bunn.

Bunn has been apart of Act II for a year and a half and values the community he experiences with both the team and the churches.

"It's definitely the best team of any kind I've ever been on, and I'm not just saying that. God has used this team in so many ways in my life," Bunn said.

The group consists of ten members: Cora Flottman, Corie Savage, Leah Thomas, Katy Beth Cassell, Lydia Campbell, Matthew Martinez, Justin Walker, Jonathan Sherbert, Patrick Thompson and Bunn.

Corrie Eddleman, theatre professor and Act II faculty advisor, puts together the various sketches for the group to perform.

Flottman is the group's leader, and she plans and organizes each of the weekends.

"Plunging into freezing oceans, laughing, duck taping windows, sleeping on creepy therapeutic beds or pull-out couches, loving people and watching them "get it", learning to love one another, and seeing God's provision in surprising ways ... it usually ends with a Kelly Clarkson song," Flottman said when asked what a weekend with Act II was like.

Their current drama is about the Church and a renewed (who calls it renewed?) vision of the Body of Christ.

"The arts are powerful," Cassell said. "I think so many Christians take them for granted. When a group of people can see the Gospel presented visually, right in front of them, it's like a light bulb clicks on, and they think more and understand better."

Act II, originally named Intermission, was revived and renamed ten years ago when BSU became responsible for the group.

Act II has auditions when openings are available. They occur in the spring.

"It takes a lot of dedication and time, but in the end, it's completely worth it," Cassell said.

For more information on Act II, or if you are interested in auditioning, you can contact the BSU office or Professor Eddleman in the Theatre department.
