It's been the pride and joy of the Psychology Department, you might have read about it last semester in The Skyliner, and it's truly been a blessing for North Greenville to be involved in such distinguished efforts.

Three lucky students were especially involved this past year; Justin Knight, senior psychology, Joe Clarey, senior psychology, and Gardner Brown, senior psychology, collaborated with Dr. Einstein at Furman University in a research study titled "Working Memory."

Our own NGU professor, Dr. Dobson, referred the students and Einstein to each other so that Knight could receive experiment experience while still an undergrad.

These three students proceeded to interview over 70 North Greenville students, most of which received extra credit in their psychology classes on college student's "cognition of the mind."

Over a three-month period, the NGU undergrads underwent countless hours of tedious interviews and data analysis to help Einstein in a study he's conducting, and though the study is now over, they all much enjoyed the experience, as well as receiving credit for an independent class.

"It's very good working with Dr. Einstein. He's a very knowledgeable man in his study, and he's a great guy to work with," said Clarey.

Einstein plans to publish his studies when they have been finished. Though the work of NGU's students in this study has been finished and the specific study is done, the Psychology Department plans to continue working with Furman in any way that could increase the opportunities of NGU students.

The three primarily involved students were very appreciative of the connection between Furman and North Greenville.

"I really appreciated being able to connect with Furman and having the opportunity to get this experience to help me in grad school. I hope this can be the beginning of a long-term continuation between North Greenville and Furman," said Knight.

Though there are no ongoing projects with Furman at the time, communication is open, and many students are very excited about the chance of working with Furman in the future. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of long lasting collaborative efforts between the two universities.
