Looking for a grand dinner and friendly atmosphere? Look no further than The Great Bay Oyster House. Located on 109 E. Poinsett Street in Greer; it's not too far from North Greenville.
GBOH's (as it is referred to by the employees and regulars) is in the business of serving seafood with a theme that adheres to the Key West environment with beach and other landscape shots adorning the walls for the patrons to enjoy during their dining experience.
The store is a family-owned business that opened back in December 2004.
Daniel Howell, head chef of Great Bay said, "I really enjoy working here. The quick-paced atmosphere and quick response needed makes this my kind of place to work."
Just like all restaurants, Great Bay has a few favorites that people recommend. These favorites include the Seafood Nachos and the Grilled Crab Cakes. The nachos have crab and shrimp, combined with sour cream, jalapenos, and cheese, and finally drizzled with clam chowder. The seafood nachos are new to the menu and have been a big hit with customers as a GBOH's original.
Of course, Great Bay also has a variety of specialized oyster dinners they serve daily.
The dessert menu varies from week to week, but they do consistently served a molten lava chocolate cake and a tangy key lime pie sweet treat.
Deliciously cooked meals with varieties of flavors makes this locale stand out from common seafood places. Great Bay is one of the only restaurants in the Greenville area that offers oysters of any form.
Food, however, isn't the only thing that brings the customer satisfaction. The restaurant is open and lively. It inspires a sense of relaxation and happiness.
The customers walk around freely and groups form to share company and laughter.
Tara Tucker, a waitress from Great Bay, said, "I've been here since we opened, so it's been good enough to keep me here. People are great in Greer, and we have a lot of loyal customers. It is nice that it's not a chain restaurant. [Great Bay] is family-owned. It's got a real different atmosphere and people keep coming back. It's a great place to work."
Great food, great mood and great people - what more can one want?
