Q: The whole "Christian band" and "Christians in a band" and other labels like that carry a lot of weight and stereotypes. What do you, as a band, consider yourselves, and what does this mean in the music industry?

A: (Joshua) Part of our belief, whether this is shocking or not, is that there is no such thing as "Christian music." We're more for a belief that music is a medium and art expression. So just like a poem, or a painting, you wouldn't necessarily see a painting in a museum and say, "oh, that's a Christian painting," but with that medium or art form you can express your ideas, faith or spirituality.

Q: How does your spirituality and your music play off each other?

A: (James) As an artist, as a music maker, or writing lyrics, everything is from your experiences or things you think about, so I think it's really all tied together, whether you're trying to consciously or not. You know, the things that you dwell on and the things that you struggle with comes out either way. So being someone who is constantly trying to figure out what is God in my life, what does God even mean, all of that comes out as an expression of yourself, and that's kind of a theme in our new album, "Time is Fiction." It's the concept that everything is pretty connected, and everything is spiritual in a sense, whether you acknowledge it or not.

Q: How did you guys hear about Love146, how did you get involved, and why is it important to you?

A: (Mountain) My wife told me about it. The founder, Rob Morris, spoke at a youth retreat and my wife came home and told me about it. It's just one of things you just feel like you want to help, but it's also one of those things where you're like, "how can I help something so huge and so far away from me?" So for us as a band we get to go out and play every night, and we actually have the opportunity to talk about it in front of people. It's really important to us to let people know about things that are happening; that there is still slavery, and there is still a giant portion of America that doesn't know about it, a giant portion of the world that doesn't know about it. So, we get to kind of help by letting people know.
