Tennis title defense hits speed bump

On Feb. 15, the men and women tennis teams played Spartanburg Methodist College at the Greer Tennis Academy.
The women's team won their match 9-0.
"We had three seniors graduate, so we're a younger team this season," said Caitlyn Whitted, senior sport management. "We're bonding well as a team, and the new players are bringing a lot to the team as a whole."
The men's team also won their match. Two doubles pairs won, and five out of six singles also won, totaling the match at 7-2.
"Overall, we played a decent tennis match," said Andrew Hack, senior biology. "We won two out of three doubles which was key, because doubles are going to be extremely important this year. It sets the tone for the singles."
On Feb. 16, the men and women tennis teams played Carson-Newman. The women's team flip-flopped the numbers from their last match with a loss of 0-9. The men's team also lost the match 5-4.
