Me & You, Us, Forever is about a man who gets a divorce after 19 years of marriage and then battles the urge to see his old high school sweetheart.
Written and directed by Dave Christiano, the movie is based on a true story from his life.
"This movie is inspired by a real life person," Dave said. "Part of what this movie portrays is something that really happened."
The main character Dave, played by Michael Blain-Rozgay, is a 47-year-old man who is trying to understand why God would allow his family to suffer through a divorce.
Throughout the film, Dave questions God and asks others what he did to deserve this after living a faithful marriage. Even divorce counseling has no answers.
Dave begins to daydream of his youth's flame, Mary, younger version played by Kathryn Worsham. He goes so far as to visit her, older version played by Sandi Fix.
The movie's conflict is whether or not Dave will see her knowing that she's already married with two children.
The movie is low budget, so do not expect it to have amazing detail or special effects. Every scene has a simple set design, and the script is no masterpiece.
But the movie's purpose is to touch souls, and there is a clear message of the Gospel.
Proverbs 21:30, stated in the movie, tries to answer the long sought after question, "Why would God allow this to happen?"
By the end, moviegoers may not have seen the most thrilling movie of all time. Instead, they may come away with something for the heart.
Me & You, Us, Forever is playing at Camelot Cinemas in Greenville and is rated PG for thematic elements.
