The North Greenville men's basketball team went into Feb. 18 hoping to spark something positive toward the end of their disappointing season.

The Crusaders, at 6-18, traveled to a Morris College team that has also seen better years, coming in at 3-22. NGU was flat from the get-go. Morris College out shot the Crusaders early in the first half and held a commanding 19-point lead going into halftime at 41-22. Morris College picked up where they left off in the second half and defeated NGU 73-52.

Senior Night came on Feb. 23 against Mars Hill College as North Greenville honored Adam Griggs, senior accounting, and Andrew Nipper, senior sport management/business administration, for their efforts in the athletic program.

The Crusaders took their first lead of the game with 10:29 to go in the first half, but quickly relinquished it to the Lions. Mars Hill went on a 20-6 run over the course of the next four minutes and marched into halftime with a 38-24 lead.

NGU cutting the Lions' lead to four in the second half, but could not get any closer as Mars Hill pulled away and won 63-53.

The men's team will play their last game of the season tonight against Carver Bible College at 7. The game was originally scheduled to be played at Carver, but was moved to Hayes Gymnasium

The women's team played their first game in the NCCAA South Regional Tournament Tuesday against Tennessee Temple University. TTU came in at 18-11, and NGU came in at 13-11.

The Crusaders stormed out to a 49-25 halftime lead and shot over 60 percent from the floor. In the second half, they scored a season high 56 points, cracked the century mark for the first time this season and had six players score in double digits. NGU won by a score of 105-66.

North Greenville went into the Regional Championship game with high hopes against Emmanuel College. The Lady Crusaders could not produce like they did against TTU, and went into half time down 37-31. Emmanuel's Tenea Mann ended up being the big difference in the game by going 5-for-7 from three-point range and lifting EC to victory 68-58.

Mars Hill came to town Feb. 23 for NGU's senior day, as they honored Debbie Wyatt, senior sport management, the team's only senior. NGU bolted to an early 30-9, but their lead was cut to six at halftime. The Lions outshot NGU in the second half and went on to win 79-73.
The women's team ended their season with a 14-13 record.
