A: Well, first off, I am an independent artist. I started off being part of Right Direction Christian Center's youth rap team, known as Solja's of R.A.Y.G., which was designed to minister to the youth of the church through the entertainment of hip-hop. I am not currently signed. I am an independent artist, but I do have management now. Recently, Gloria Hiatt has stepped out to become my manager.
Q: What was it like performing in front of your peers that you see on a daily business?
A: I was very nervous at first. I am used to performing in front of people who already like my music and book me for a show or a show case. I was a little nervous, but then I said to myself, "I do this all the time. And if they don't like me, they don't. Shoot, it ain't about me anyway." One word: Christ.
Q: What inspired your name, godChild?
A: Well, at first, I was named Caesar by my home boys when I was rapping at my school, coming up in Columbia, S.C. And then, when I first got saved and started steering my music in a different direction, I decided to be known as godChild because everytime I slipped, fell or backslid, I had to remind myself that I am a child of God. So from then, my stage name has been godChild.
