The North Greenville men's tennis team has had a rough start in its defense of six straight NCCAA national championships. It went into Lander University March 13 looking to reverse a 1-3 start to the season.

NGU was no match for Lander as they were stifled 9-0. It was Lander's first shut out of the year as they improved to 5-0, while the Crusaders dropped to 1-4.

The women's tennis team is having an up and down year so far. They are 2-3 and averaging seven wins per match in their wins but have been shut out in their three loses and were looking to even their record at .500 against Lander.

The women's team faired about the same as the men's tennis team did against Lander, losing 8-1, dropping the team's record to 2-4. The sole NGU victory came when No. 1 Salem Erni, freshman business administration, defeated Fernanda Oliveira (6-3, 6-4).

Both teams will look to get their seasons back on track Thursday at home against Piedmont College at 3 p.m.
