Sanctus Real's fourth studio album, We Need Each Other, is loaded with 10 solid tracks that are all capable of being this year's summer theme song.

For the past two summers, I have worked at Summershine Resort Ministries on North Carolina's Outer Banks. I have found that Sanctus Real's encouraging music makes a great summer soundtrack.

Sanctus Real sounds new and fresh while retaining the same features that attract people to music in the first place.

When I hear a new song on the radio, I react in one of two ways, "Oh, that must be the new (insert artist's name here) song" or "Is that (insert artist's name here)?"

In Sanctus Real's case, you would probably ask the latter.

The band has revamped its guitar tones, and the drums shine clean through the mix. While the last few albums have been recorded at professional studios, this album has a noticeably better sound. But Sanctus Real held to what a majority of their fans loved most in their previous albums: smooth and soaring vocals, meaningful and catchy lyrics, and a purposeful track progression.

The first song, "Turn On the Lights," brings something new to the table with lyrical content that Sanctus Real has never tackled before and powerful in-your-face guitar riffs. The second song, "We Need Each Other," is one of the top singles in the Christian rock industry.

The song talks about what life would be like without friends, and how it's not easy to get along but we all need each other.

I will not spoil any of the other tracks for you, but I will make a comment about the ninth track, "Eternal." The chorus lyrics are, "In this marriage of our hearts / There is no death do us part / For You are eternal / And I am eternally Yours."

Some might hear, "in this marriage of our hearts," and want to play this track at their wedding.

But please do not play this song at your wedding. It is talking about a relationship with God.

I invite you to share the same album with me this summer and head out to your local music store or iTunes and buy it.
