Don't you love to be welcomed at a restaurant where the waitress remembers your name? Has anyone ever appreciated your business enough to give you a discount because of where you attend school?

Stowed away in downtown Travelers Rest is a quaint Greek restaurant called Zestos. It is located next to George Coleman Ford in the Travelers Rest Bank shopping center.

"All food at Zestos is prepared fresh every day by an authentic Greek chef," said Thomas Clack, sophomore business administration and waiter for Zestos.

The decor gives the restaurant a comfortable, Greek atmosphere that can be enjoyed by many.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, my friends and I were promptly seated. We ordered our drinks and began looking over the extensive menu that included a myriad of Italian and Greek specialties including spaghetti, baked ziti, chicken parmesan, gyros and paninis. There are also a wide variety of other dishes like crab cakes, burgers and steaks.

I decided on the Pastitcio, which is a Greek-style lasagna casserole. It came with a fresh side salad and their delicious house Greek dressing for which they are famous. Soon the food arrived, and I was pleased to find my choice hot and scrumptious. The Pastitcio was a good balance of marinara sauce, noodle, mince and cheese.

I also sampled the Athenian chicken, which, though it looked wonderful, lacked the tenderness and flavor needed to set it apart. The spaghetti was tasty with a slightly spicy marinara sauce. Garlic bread came with the entrees, and it was warm, crunchy and grilled to perfection.

Another area the restaurant succeeded in was service.

The hostess and waitress were friendly and polite. We never lacked for anything.

The prices are fairly reasonable with the average entrée ranging from $7 - $10 with exceptions. North Greenville University students, however, are treated to a 10 percent discount with the presentation of their I.D.

In conclusion, the overall quality of Zestos was satisfactory. I would give it three out of five stars.
