The Ninja Geese, North Greenville's club ultimate Frisbee team, closed out their first competitive season with a series of friendly games at Furman University last weekend.

Overall, the team finished with a 13-10 record and ranked 240th out of 355 teams, according to the Ultimate Players Association.

The team competed in five tournaments in the fall and spring semesters and steadily improved in each tournament.

The Geese finished 2-5 in the Gamecock Classic but brought home the Spirit of the Cock award for the team with the best sportsmanship.

Then they traveled to Chattanooga, Tenn. for the Lookout Mountain Classic III, where they finished 2-6.

On January 26, North Greenville hosted the 1st Annual Frozen Goose Tournament, which brought together more than a dozen club teams from around the Southeast. The boys finished ninth overall but won the Spirit of the Goose award.

In February, the Geese won the B Bracket championship at the Chucktown Throwdown in Charleston. They wrapped up their season with their best tournament of the season, finishing fifth out of 15 with a 6-2 record at the College Beasterns tourney in Wilmington, NC.

"It was great to see the improvement as the season progressed," said captain Robbie Earle. "It was great to see our hard work pay off. Next year, we'll be losing two of our best receivers, but we're hoping to add some good freshmen."

The Geese will need to replace Kyle Thomas, Tripp Worthy, and Brent Hardy, who are all seniors.

Next year, the team will host the Frozen Goose Tournament and will look to continue to improve on this year's season.
