The Adventure Club invites all students to celebrate Earth Day by wearing green and participating in some activities on April 22.

"We need to take care of what we have, what we were given and what we are handing down," said Sara White, junior outdoor leadership.

Some actions promoted by the Adventure Club to support Earth Day consist of turning off unnecessary lights, walking to classes, recycling and unplugging unused electrical items.

According to earthday.net, "From Tokyo to Togo, to our flagship event on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and 7 other U.S. cities, we will be galvanizing millions of people around the world behind a Call for Climate, our global warming action theme."

The Adventure Club plans to have a designated place outside of the stud for students to recycle and do other activities in honor of Earth Day.

"Earth Day is a wonderful way to get people informed on how much we have an impact on this beautiful place God has given us and how much more we should take care of it," said Sara White.

Earth Day began 38 years ago in order to protect the environment. Every year since April 22, 1970, people all over the world have participated in numerous events to promote care of the environment.

According to earthday.net, "Earth Day broadens the base of support for environmental programs, rekindles public commitment and builds community activism around the world through a broad range of events and activities."
