Canadian pop punk four piece, Hawk Nelson, released their third full-length release, Hawk Nelson is My Friend, on Tooth and Nail Records. With more energy than a four-year-old's birthday party, Hawk Nelson's latest might be an album to add to your summer play list.

Released April 1, the album is gaining popularity across the nation on Christian radio stations and in the pop punk scene.

The 12-track album debuted at No. 34 on the Billboard's Top 200 list, and the first single "Friend Like That" is available for download on iTunes.

They recently recorded a song with Drake Bell, performed as "The Who" in NBC's drama "American Dreams," and has songs featured on Saturday Night Football commercials.

To support the release, Hawk Nelson kicked off their Green T Tour with punk rock circuit all stars Run Kid Run and Capital Lights. With their extensive travel schedule, Hawk Nelson gives South Carolinians two chances to see them perform. The first of the dates is near Columbia, and the second is in the Charleston area.

But if you are prepared for the drive, take some friends and have a great night of sing along to energetic, pop punk worship.

Hawk Nelson explained the meaning behind "Friend Like That" as, "So many people are struggling today. Most of all they need a friend, and we believe everyone has a friend in God."

Though I'm not your typical Reliant K, Hawk Nelson fan, a few songs on Friend can appeal to all.

"Friend Like That," "Turn It On," "One Little Miracle" and "Somebody Else" are all worth a listen, but I cannot help but feel like some are filler tracks. Friend has enough good content to earn its way onto your iPod.

Although I usually do not listen to bands from this genre, I respect the artistry exhibited throughout the album, and I say that Hawk Nelson is my friend.
